I'm an artist that for years only painted indoors in the studio. One particularly fine sunny day I was in my studio painting away but it was so beautiful out I felt I had get outside and paint somewhere on location. I didn't know it at the time but this was to be the beginning of a lifelong love affair with "Plein Air" painting. I loved the direct connection to nature and that my senses became heightened as I saw things more vividly and became immersed in the forms and colors as I painted. And something else happened that day that I didn't expect.. Although I had originally felt shy about painting in public, the interactions I had that day were all friendly and I found that people were interested in learning, sharing a story or just respectfully observing. It added to the experience of being an artist that could never happen in the studio environment.
Since that auspicious day I've traveled with my easel and have painted and drawn scenes from many different countries, from the streets of Paris to the countryside of Provence, Italy, the UK, and the  beaches from Costa Rica, to Tahiti and Indonesia, and of course all around the US. So now although I will always continue creating art from the comfort of a studio, I will also continue to travel the planet with my trusty easel and paint in the great outdoors... hope to see you out there!
